Judy shoots a rubber band toward a tree. The rubber bands hits the tree with a “whap” knocking off a small piece of loose bark and bounces off the tree. Using what you know about PE and Ke, explain the energy conversions in the rubber bands position, its flight, the sound and falling bark.

Suppose that a log is burning in a fireplace. The log contains chemical energy. Identify the energy types that are given off as the log burns. Also, write a definition for the law of conservation of energy. Then explain how this law applies to the examples of the log.
